☕️Happy to be back some days every week in Vienna playing and also visiting Cafés!😊 I really missed that! In Vienna visiting a café is considered culture. We say “Kaffeehauskultur” because it’s an old tradition, and the viennese love their Cafés! To sit there for hours with friends, read a book or newspaper or even work. Nobody will look badly at you if you sit there for an hour just drinking a tea or coffee, it’s somehow included into the price (that’s also why beverages are not cheap like, for example, in Italy). Beverages are quite expensive, but food isn’t normally! Specially for lunch there are good “Mittagsmenü” including 2 or 3 courses of mostly typical Austrian food. If you visit Vienna you have to try it😊
A Kaffeehaus is Specially in winter a way to stay warm inside but at the same time to be social and be among people…

I know I am spamming you with flowers, but I can’t resist! It’s that moment of the year when it feels like everything is blooming 🌸 it’s also raining ☔️ (which I really like,it feels like in the English countryside) and everything is green around the house.
I have so many lilac trees in my garden,I even cut some flowers to put them in vase for the living room...
After this moment when the lilac,the wisteria the iris and so many more bloom, I am eagerly waiting for the next weeks when my beloved lily of the valley and the PEONIES (!!!!) will bloom 🥰 I will of course keep you updated about the probably most beautiful flowers in the garden (you will see)🌸

This week I had the chance to visit Venice, as the museums,cafes,shops opened again and travel between the regions is possible again. I was in Italy for other reasons, but I could not NOT visit my favourite city...
So we went to palazzo Ducale,and we were practically alone there. In my whole life I have never seen Venice so empty and never visited the Palazzo Ducale having the place for me alone. I felt like a tourist from the 1920s. It was a once in a lifetime experience 🤍

Of course I hope that tourists find again their way to Venice,because many people live from tourism, but I also wish that people visiting Venice always keep in mind that this is a place where people actually live and show respect to them and feel intimidated by the incredible history and art of the city and it’s inhabitants. Too many times I saw disrespectful people literally invading this place,sitting everywhere on the ground,on the steps of churches,dressed like at the beach... too many throw away their garbage on the streets or are loud and offensive.
So it was really a dream for me to be in Venice and at museums without all of them who usually are seen everywhere around San Marco square.

With what I wrote I don’t want to offend anyone,but I try to rise awareness or educate people that don’t mean to be rude,but don’t know how to do better when visiting. I already did it some years ago,but I would be glad to do again some posts about things to do and not to do in italian art cities! 🖊 just comment or send me a pm 🤍

🖊I really love vintage things, specially family pieces that have memories attached. Generally I am not a huge fan of modern style furniture, I of course appreciate the value and the the effort of the designers but to me they generally don’t scream „home“. I love surrounding myself with old things or at least old-styled.

✉️The painting you see here for example, this was a grand aunt of mine with a very adventurous life! Her life could be out of a book, really (maybe some day I will tell you some of her stories). This painting is one of my favorite things in my parents´ home.
